More from Lillian Saldaña Campos

October 15, 2024 by Lillian Saldaña Campos (Havana, Cuba)

God bless you, brothers, sisters, and friends.  My name is Lillian.  I am a doctor and a teacher.  I am a singer in a musical group in Cuba; my husband is the pianist.  He is also an audiovisual producer and editor in the Methodist Church in Cuba, Spain, Colombia, and the United States.  We have two lovely children: Evelyn Lorena, 15, and Daniel Roberto, 5.

I once wrote a meditation about a plant that my husband gave me.  I placed it on the balcony of our apartment to get some sun.  When the plant failed to thrive, I didn’t appreciate it as much because of its appearance.  When I repositioned the plant elsewhere on the balcony, however, it began to recuperate and have a more vibrant appearance.  God inspired me to write a meditation which was published on July 5, 2021.  With this meditation, the Lord helped me see and value the simple things in life.  I hope this helps you as much as it helped me.

After writing the meditation about the plant, I remembered that on a few occasions I lost focus in my life.  I got swept up by appearances or giving priority to my studies instead of focusing on Jesus.  At this point, the Lord inspired me to write another meditation which was published on November 8, 2021.  This meditation recounted my academic life when I studied medicine and did not want to share the gospel with my roommate.

I am a doctor and dentist and live in Cuba.  I do not own a vehicle, nor can I drive, though I admit to my friends that it would be extraordinary if I could.  I believe drivers are brave.  One evening when our church service ended, some friends who owned a vehicle offered to drive us home.  I remember I fixed my eyes on the road, a bit scared, as I saw the bright lights of the approaching cars.  I remember covering my eyes because the lights bothered me, but the driver remained steady and sure on the road.  This experience led to another meditation that was published on October 29, 2023.  This meditation was close to my heart because Jesus Christ is the driving force in my life.

The last meditation that I wrote was published on June 9, 2024.  This meditation was poignant for me.  I remember I cried while writing it and cried when it was published.  It is a meditation that reminds me that even though I do not have wealth or possessions, God is with me.  It is a strong reminder that when we have God, we have everything we need.

I will continue to write what God inspires me to write.  Thank you for reading about these experiences.  Thanks to The Upper Room for this wonderful opportunity.  God bless us all.
